CAB Thesaurus (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2., 1995 Edition, ISBN: 0 85198949 7), has been used for the keyword selection. Most of the keywords are also searchable in AGROVOC Multilingual Agricultural Thesaurus (3.ed., 1995, English Version, ISBN: 92-5-103769-8).The Multilingual Agricultural Thesaurus has been published by APIMONDIA in agreement by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The Subject Catalogue arranges records according to the CABI codes. The CABI codes are provided by CAB International, a global not-for-profit organisation specialising in sustainable solutions for agricultural and environmental problems.
The concept of metadata used in the SSG-FI project is based on Dublin Core and complemented by a few more elements, As the so-called "SSG categories", statistical data (STATISTICS) and an evaluation of the resource (EVALUATION) have been added. The internal categories are used for database administration only and are not displayed in the SSG-FI system.
The template used to catalog and describe resources is identical in the different academic disciplines involved, except in the classification scheme used. In the Forestry Guide, the CABI subject category codes and subject descriptors, derived from the CABI Classification scheme and used in AGRICOLA and AGRIS databases are used for indexing the information resources.
